What the report hands you

  • The exact KDP checkbox

Text, images and translation — each with the declaration to tick and wording you can paste into the details box.

  • Trademark screen with evidence

Your title and series checked against live USPTO records, with the registration number and class shown.

  • Originality signals

Repeated blocks, template phrasing and overlap with your own previously scanned books — included in every scan.

  • Print readiness in numbers

Paperback and hardcover files get trim, bleed, page count, image DPI and embedded fonts measured — plus a margin flag and the gutter your page count needs.

  • One score, one verdict

Four modules rolled into a single number, stamped with the KDP policy version it was measured against.

A fix list in order

Critical issues sorted to the top, and every issue comes with what to change.

Passage-level plagiarism

Pro and Agency Deep Scans flag passages you can inspect, with source links when available. Engine capacity and routing stay internal.

Professional PDF export

Keep the whole report as a clean publishing QA record. Pro and Agency.

Re-scan flags on rule changes

When the KDP policy version moves, every report scored on the old one is flagged for a re-scan in your history.

Why authors get flagged

One flagged book can put the whole account at risk

Publishing for clients or under several pen names raises the stakes: a single flagged title can drag down every other book underneath it. Below is what actually trips authors up — and what Greenlight Publish does about each one.

  • Risk 01

    The AI checkbox guess

You used ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini somewhere in the process — but is that “AI-generated” or “AI-assisted”? Tick the wrong box and you risk a suspended account and withheld royalties, not just a rejected upload.

    AI-content disclosure

Seven questions decide it for you — per box, with wording you can paste into KDP.

  • Risk 02

Rejected, with no idea what to change

Amazon tells you the file was not accepted. It does not tell you which line, which margin or which word caused it — so you guess, resubmit, and wait again.

    Findings & fix list

Findings sorted worst-first, each naming the exact figure or phrase that failed and how to fix it.

  • Risk 03

Rejected after the design is paid for

Workbooks, planners and journals get bounced for bleed, margin or image DPI off by a few pixels — long after the interior is finished and the designer is paid.

    Print readiness

Paperback and hardcover files get trim, bleed, DPI and fonts measured before you upload — with the gutter your page count needs.

  • Risk 04

A title that collides with a trademark

Series names and title words hit registered marks far more often than authors expect — and you usually find out from a takedown, not from a warning.

    Trademark risk

Live USPTO screen on your title and series, with the registration number and class shown.

  • Risk 05

The book you published last year may not pass today

Amazon moves its rules without announcing them. Nothing tells you that a title already on sale was cleared against a version of the policy that no longer exists.

    KDP policy versioning

Every report is stamped with the policy version, and flagged in your history when that version moves on.

  • Risk 06

No idea whether the text is clean enough

A plagiarism percentage tells you nothing you can act on. You cannot rewrite “14% similar”.

    Plagiarism passages

Pro and Agency Deep Scans show the passages worth reviewing, with source links when available.

The manual preflight

Still building your publish decision one tool at a time?

KDP Help explains policy. USPTO returns registrations. Similarity checkers return percentages. Print calculators return measurements. You still have to translate all of it into “ready” or “not yet.”

An overwhelmed KDP author surrounded by four disconnected policy, trademark, originality and print-readiness checks
Four disconnected checks
Every station gives you an answer. None owns the final decision.

What “just check it” really means

  1. 01KDP policy

    Interpret the disclosure rules

Read the latest guidance, map it back to how the book was made, then decide which AI-content box your exact workflow requires.

  2. 02USPTO records

    Triage trademark results

Search title and series terms, inspect classes and registration details, then work out which matches are actually relevant.

  3. 03Originality

Chase the passages behind a score

A percentage is only the start. You still need the matching text, its source and a judgment about what is worth rewriting.

  4. 04Print file

Audit the PDF specification by specification

Trim, bleed, margins, image DPI and embedded fonts each live in a different check — and every miss can mean another upload.

The real bottleneck

Four tools can answer four questions. They still cannot tell you what to fix first — or whether the book is ready as a whole.

4 outputsYour judgmentUpload & hope

The Greenlight workflow

One workflow. One ordered verdict.

Greenlight combines the disclosure decision, evidence checks and print measurements into one policy-stamped report — with the worst issues first.

  1. 01

    Answer + upload

Seven disclosure answers and one manuscript file.

  2. 02

    Fix in order

Critical findings rise first, with evidence and instructions.

  3. 03

    Publish with a record

One score, one declaration and the policy version checked.

The readiness engine

Four specialist checks. One score you can act on.

Every module keeps its own evidence and score. Greenlight then combines them into one readiness verdict — so a clean result in one area cannot hide a critical issue in another.

Chapter 01 · Set the context

From manuscript to a report in one guided flow

The wizard captures the file, book type and seven disclosure answers; the report then turns those inputs into a score and an ordered verdict.

SCREEN 01

Upload the manuscript, answer 7 questions

DOCX, PDF, EPUB or plain text. The file is parsed in your browser — only extracted text leaves your machine. The 7 answers are what decide your KDP declaration, and none of them are reported to Amazon.

  • Title and book type auto-filled from the file
  • Paperback adds the full print-spec check
  • Under two minutes from upload to score
SCREEN 02

One score, four checks, one page

AI-content disclosure, trademark risk, originality and print readiness — scored individually, then rolled into one verdict with the KDP policy version it was measured against.

  • Critical issues sorted to the top
  • Every issue comes with what to change
  • Re-scan flagged when the policy version moves

Chapter 02 · Make the decision

See the checkbox and the evidence behind every warning

The declaration is separated from the risk findings, so you know what to enter in KDP and what still needs work before upload.

SCREEN 03

The exact box to tick in KDP — in writing

No other tool answers this. You get the declaration for text, images and translation, the click path inside the KDP dashboard, and wording you can paste if Amazon asks how the book was made.

  • AI-generated vs AI-assisted, worked out from your own answers
  • Step-by-step click path in KDP setup
  • Copy-paste wording for the details box
SCREEN 04

Trademark hits and print specs, with evidence

Live USPTO records for your title and series, protected brands inside the text, and the print numbers Amazon measures — trim, bleed, image DPI, embedded fonts — each with the exact figure it failed on, plus a margin flag on the sampled pages.

  • USPTO registration number and class shown
  • Trim, bleed and DPI checked against KDP limits
  • Compared against your own previous uploads

Chapter 03 · Keep the proof

Review matched passages and export the finished QA record

Pro and Agency add Deep Scan, priority processing and a professional print view without changing the core readiness report.

SCREEN 05

Plagiarism check: the passages worth reviewing

On Pro and Agency, run Deep Scan from a completed report. You get flagged passages and source links when available — not just a percentage.

  • Passage-level matches, not one vague number
  • Engine capacity and provider routing handled internally
  • Previous results are reused for unchanged manuscripts
SCREEN 06

A professional PDF, straight out of the report

Export the whole report — score, declaration and action items — as a clean publishing QA record. Agency Rights also permits reviewed client delivery.

  • Score, declaration and action items in one file
  • Proof of the policy version you checked against
  • Included with Pro and Agency
One guided workflow

Scan once. Keep the report ready for the next decision.

The scan turns your file and seven disclosure answers into a report you can fix, reopen, export and re-check when the KDP policy version changes. Pro and Agency reports can also launch a Deep Scan.

  1. 01

    Upload the book

DOCX, PDF, EPUB or plain text — plus the print PDF when print checks apply.

  2. 02

    Answer seven disclosure questions

Describe how the text, images and translation were made. Nothing is reported to Amazon.

  3. 03

Work the report from the top

Review the score, exact KDP declaration and worst-first fix list, then re-scan when ready.

Per manuscript

120K

words maximum

Front matter such as the copyright page and table of contents is excluded from the word count. Longer manuscripts are split into up to four 30,000-word sections automatically; customers do not manage provider credits or sections.

Deep Scan · Pro & Agency

One action. One consistent Deep Scan result.

The report shows the passages worth reviewing and includes source links when available — instead of leaving you with a percentage you cannot act on.

Pro & Agency only

Starter does not include plagiarism or Deep Scan access.

Passages and evidence

See the flagged text and follow source links when available.

Smart result reuse

Unchanged manuscripts reuse the previous result automatically.

Capacity and engine routing are handled internally. If one analysis path is unavailable, Deep Scan switches to the internal path without exposing a provider balance or interrupting an eligible customer.

The person behind the tool

Built by someone who publishes, not a faceless SaaS team.

I build Greenlight Publish as one person, not a faceless SaaS team. It started as my own pre-upload checklist — which AI-disclosure box to tick, whether a title collides with a live trademark, and the exact print numbers Amazon measures — because getting any of them wrong can put an account at risk, not just bounce an upload.

So the tool only claims what it can actually check, every limit is written down, and when you email support it reaches me. No subscription traps, no borrowed logos, no promises about your sales — just the readiness read I wanted before I hit publish.

Buyer guide

The details worth knowing before you buy.

Straight answers about what is scanned, what leaves your browser and where the current product limits are.

Ask us before you buy

The scan

01
What does the readiness score actually check?
Four things that get KDP submissions blocked: AI-content disclosure (which checkbox to tick), trademark risk against live USPTO records, originality signals, and print readiness (page size, bleed, margins, DPI, fonts).
Why not just ask ChatGPT if my book is KDP-compliant?
Because a chatbot answers from frozen training data and cannot tell you when Amazon last moved the goalposts. Every report here is stamped with the KDP policy version it was scored against, and when that version changes, the affected reports get flagged for a re-scan. You can see the current version and its changelog inside the app before you upload anything.
Do you run an AI detector on my manuscript?
No, and that is deliberate. Detectors guess, and Amazon does not ask for a detector score — it asks how the book was made. Your declaration is worked out by a rule engine from your 7 answers against the current KDP policy version, so the same answers always give the same result. A stylometric cross-check only raises a flag when the text disagrees with a "no AI involved" declaration; it never picks the checkbox for you.
How long does a scan take?
Usually under two minutes from upload to score. The report opens as soon as scoring finishes and stays in your history, ready to re-open whenever you need it.
How is this different from Grammarly or a plagiarism checker?
Those judge your writing. This judges your submission. Grammar tools will not tell you which AI-content box to tick, will not check your series name against live USPTO records, and will not measure the bleed on your paperback interior.
How does Deep Scan work?
Deep Scan is available on Pro and Agency, not Starter. It shows the passages worth reviewing and includes source links when available. Capacity and engine routing are handled internally, so customers do not manage provider credits. Treat the result as guidance to review, not a legal conclusion or guarantee of originality.

Files & privacy

02
What file types can I upload?
DOCX, PDF, EPUB and plain text. Files are parsed in your browser — only the extracted text is sent for scoring, and the manuscript itself is never stored on our servers.
Is my manuscript safe? Do you keep a copy?
No copy is kept. Parsing happens in your browser and only extracted text is sent for scoring — there is no column in our database that holds your manuscript. Nothing you answer in the questionnaire is reported to Amazon either; the answers exist only to work out your declaration.
Does this work for low-content books — planners, journals, workbooks?
That is exactly where the print module earns its keep. Trim size, bleed, page count, image DPI and embedded fonts are measured straight out of your PDF, sampled pages are flagged when text sits inside the minimum margin, and you are told the gutter your page count needs. Those are the numbers that bounce a finished interior file after the design work is already paid for.
I did not use AI at all. Is this still for me?
Yes, and the declaration still matters: answering the KDP AI question wrongly in either direction is the risk. You also get the trademark screen on your title and series, the originality signals, and the print-spec check — none of which care whether AI was involved.
My book is not in English. Will it still be scored?
Manuscripts are scored in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Portuguese. The app interface is available in the same six languages.

Plans & access

03
What is the difference between Starter, Pro and Agency?
Starter is 10 readiness Scans/month and does not include Deep Scan. Pro is 30 readiness Scans/month plus priority processing, Deep Scan and professional PDF export. Agency removes the readiness-scan limit, includes Cover Score and Manuscript Fix GPT, and permits paid client delivery for one operator.
How long a manuscript can Deep Scan handle?
Deep Scan handles the same manuscript accepted by the main readiness scan. The app excludes common front matter and splits long text internally when needed; customers do not need to manage provider credits or per-section allowances.
I only publish a couple of books a year. Is Starter enough?
Yes if you need the four-module readiness score and exact KDP declaration but not Deep Scan. Starter includes 10 readiness Scans every month. Choose Pro when you also need Deep Scan, priority processing or professional PDF export.
Do I have to pay again next month?
No. All three plans are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. The monthly allowances refresh on their own every month without another payment.
What exactly do "one-time" and "unlimited" mean here?
One-time means you pay once and any monthly readiness-scan allowance keeps refreshing without another payment while the product is offered and operated. Unlimited on Agency means no monthly readiness-scan cap for normal use by one licensed operator; it is not permission for automated bulk scanning, link sharing or sublicensing. Deep Scan routing is managed internally and is not sold as a customer credit balance.
What is the refund policy?
Refunds are handled through WarriorPlus under the terms shown on the offer page at the time of purchase. Open a refund request from your WarriorPlus purchases page, or contact us and we'll help.
Clear scope

A readiness signal, not a promise from Amazon.

These boundaries are part of the product, not fine print hidden after checkout. Please read them before you choose a plan.

Scope 01

Not affiliated with Amazon

Greenlight Publish is an independent tool. It is not endorsed by, sponsored by or affiliated with Amazon, Kindle Direct Publishing or any Amazon company. "Amazon", "Kindle" and "KDP" are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe what the tool checks.

Scope 02

Not legal advice

Trademark screening, AI-disclosure guidance and originality signals are educational information, not legal advice. We are not a law firm and no attorney–client relationship is created. For a decision with legal consequences — a trademark conflict, a copyright question — talk to a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction.

Scope 03

No guarantee of approval

A high readiness score means your manuscript passed our checks against the KDP policy version shown on the report. It is not a promise that Amazon will approve, publish or keep your book live. Amazon applies its own review, changes its rules without notice, and its decision is always final.

Scope 04

No income or results claims

Nothing on this page is a promise of sales, rankings or royalties. Any figures or examples shown are illustrative. What you get out of the tool depends on your manuscript, your niche and your own publishing work — results vary from author to author.

Scope 05

Third-party data has limits

USPTO records, protected-brand lists and plagiarism results may rely on third-party sources that update on their own schedule and may be incomplete or out of date. We surface the evidence we find; we cannot guarantee every match is caught.

Scope 06

One-time purchase, one user

Each plan is a one-time purchase for a single user, with the monthly allowances listed above, and it runs for as long as the product is offered and operated — the lifetime of the product, not a guarantee of perpetual service. "Unlimited" covers normal single-user publishing work, not automated bulk scanning, resale or shared access. Refunds are handled by WarriorPlus under the terms shown on the offer page at the time of purchase. Plan limits and included features may change for new purchases.

To the extent permitted by law, Greenlight Publish is provided “as is” and we are not liable for publishing decisions, lost royalties or account actions taken by Amazon. Questions about any of the above? Contact support.
